Burkhard Henry Breseman was born at Mapleworks, Clark County, Wisconsin, April 16, 1881. When he was one year old his parents moved to Nasonville, town of Lincoln, Wood County, where he grew to manhood. His education was received in District No. 1 School, town of Lincoln. After assisting on his father’s farm until he was 16 years of age, he worked for three years on the large dairy farm of Bungert Brothers at Appleton, Wisconsin. In 1903 he entered the employ of the Clark and Leaferver Steamboat Company, serving three years as a fireman on the steamer Thistle, after which he spent one year in the engine department of a steamer of the William Crosby Transportation Company, on Lake Michigan. After his marriage, he had charge of his father’s farm for five years. In 1913 he bought 110 acres of wild land from H. F. Thiel, of which 75 acres is now clear. It is equipped with a full set of McCormick-Deering machinery and stocked with high-class dairy cattle. 
 

Mr. Breseman was married to Miss Edna Arthur, by the Reverend Moore, in Appleton, October 22, 1908. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Breseman are: Mable 20, medical student of the Chicago University; Harlow 18, Olive 16, Mildred 14, Burkhard Jr. 11 and Alice 9. 
 

Politically, he is a Republican. His hobby is hunting wild game.
